What defines the sound

• A Les Paul style guitar with Alnico II style humbuckers, into a hot-rodded Marshall.
• The guitar's own volume and tone knobs do much of the work. Rolling back cleans the sound up instead of switching channels.
• Mid-heavy and smooth rather than bright and aggressive, with sustain that sings.
• The clean parts came from a separate clean rig, and the Paradise City intro has a chorus on it.
